It feels good to be back. The whole Singapore elective experience is one for the books; a lot of highs and a lot of lows. But I did miss my family, my friends, my home. Gonna start the last 2 weeks before clerkship by sleeping soundly in my own bed :) Yay!

Spent the afternoon with batchmates at the Singapore Botanical Gardens. The set up of the place reminded me a lot of Novitiate.
This bench and the view when you sit here brought me back to of my favorite spot during the retreat :)
We’re making the most out of this elective/experience. Sure there were days when we felt like giving up, packing our bags, calling the airline and rebooking flights. Those were shitty days, because we felt like ICCs all over again, only worse because of the communication barrier and judgement just oozing out of their pores.
But there were also good days, like yesterday, when we got to read up on interesting cases, and then observe these patients in OT. Or today, when my classmates got to answer questions from our Registrar during rounds (hooray for PGH learning!).
Bottomline, everything is just a mix of good and bad.
Last 7 school days left!
I miss home. Sure I’m enjoying it here, especially because this trip consists of a lot of firsts (travelling out of the country, travelling without family members, living for a month away from family, etc). Sure I love the “freedom” that comes with living in Manila (and not in QC), but I always had the safety blanket of LRT rides or my Dad to pick me up from the unit and bring me home when I felt like going home. Too bad though our FX can’t cross the seas to bring me back to QC :)
I remember my mom’s lasanga, with the overflowing beef with fat and cheese layer. Mmmmm. After all this Compre and OSCE shiz, I will ask her to cook this for me :P Celebratory lasagna! :D
It amazes me how He balances out the positives and negatives each and every day :)
Was feeling blaaaah at the start of the week, coupled with realizations, rationalizations and whatnots. Then, what do you know, the email comes in early (with a positive response, hello Neurosurg!), followed by lots of pizzas and pasta with the EdBoard (thank you AA!) and racing against the clock to get to MOA to watch The Vow, just because it was sold out in Rob (I love you batchmates I don’t know what to do without you).
I feel truly loved :) Thank You!
Because today revolved around torn scrubs (and the circumstances that lead to it), the management of pain, chinese food overload and looking out for each other.
Not to mention asking people if they’re free 3 weeks from now, although in a jokingly way. Yes? No? Who knows :D
The stranger is back (apparently for a short while already), hello there :)
A few papers to go, then it’s goodbye Psych and hello Ophtha!
So baka yung pangarap niya, nagustuhan ko na din. Baka nagging pangarap ko na rin. Bet.
Why is it so hard to let go? Undeniably, one of the best moments of 2011, but like all (good) things, it must come to an end.
